Swanny mentioned Pokey Reese as an alternative.

When I heard he had been traded from Cincinnati to Colorado, I also wondered why we hadn't been involved.

We have traded with Cincinnati in the past, and we are connected to Colorado via (darn it, I forgot his name)

Colorado turned around and traded Pokey again.

I'm thinking Pokey could have really helped us be more of a running team... (Pokey, Omar, Bradley, Lawton, even Brady Anderson, although I'm not sure what Anderson Base Stealing stats are for this past season)....

That group could drive opposing teams crazy.

Pokey Reese only made 3.2 million this past season, has in the past hit over .300, and he has two gold gloves!

    Whaddya think?

    Pokey Reese is overrated.
He has never hit over .300. His highest average was .285, and even then, his OBP was .330. THat is a ridiculous BA/OBP ratio. Less then .050 higher...which is a fair indicator he has no idea how to take walks. Here is his link. http://espn.go.com/mlb/profiles/stats/batting/5746.html
Guttierez has never hit as low as Reese has hit twice in his career. I would rather have Guttierez hit .275/.375/.400 like he did in 2000 then Reese and his best which was .285/.330/.417 which was a total anomoly if you look at his normal stats. I love how you guys now love the idea of "potential" in Reese, but hate the trade for Escobar even though he obviously has a hell of a lot more "upside".
Although, I think that it would have been nice for Shapiro to have unloaded Taubensee on the Rockies. I don't think that Hatteburg could be any worse the Taubensee. Although, I have a feeling that we would have had to take Reese. Hmm...wonder if anyone needs a left handed pinch hitter for a prospect.

I still like Reese over Ricky G no matter what stats are laid out. Just my preference.

    Exclamation

Brady Anderson will not make the team so forget about him, he can't steal first base!
